Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande - Movie Review

Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande(SDGB), a catchy title indeed. SDGB marks the debut of Pravin Dabas as a director, who is known for his works in Khosla Ka Ghosla, My Name Is Khan, Monsoon Wedding, etc.

PLOT : A four membered gang consiting of Rajbir (Parvin Dabas), Sexy (Vansh Bharadwaj), Ambani (Ashish Nayyar) and Doctor (Kuldip Ruhil) work for a Fauji(Sharat Saxena), a mafia don who has a strange fetish of asking his thugs to shoot a video while thrashing down their enemies.
The film starts with the release of Rajbir from prison and centers around the story of those farmers whose land is being taken away in exchange for very cheap prices by the government. The government claims this to be an industrial project the development of everyone including the villagers.
Rajbir and his friends feel pity at the plight of their people and plan to fight for them. But things aren't easy for them as their own master Fauji, is on their opposition for he has joined hands with the government and busy planning to enter politics through the coming elections. To their worst, the villagers are reluctant to take their help since they are criminals and the villagers want their protest to be completely non-violent.
This four guys then start on their own way and use their own methods. The resulting violence, kidnapping and the media attention helps the villagers in getting back their land.

GENRE : Action, Comedy, Political

DIRECTION : First time director Pravin Dabas is impressive in the way he shows his film. The locations, the actors and music strongly hold the film together.

BEST SCENES : The night when the Rajbir and friends drink and think of ideas to help the villagers is simply hilarious.

The scene when Hetu(who is kidnapped), runs away from the gang.

When Rajbir and his friends encounter the rival gang on a holy day when both of them have decided not to use weapons and then the car exchange.

The fight in the end with Fauji's men with an extra-ordinary background score.

Darkman

“I am everyone – and no one. Everywhere – nowhere. Call me Darkman.”

I had a life before, I had a face, I was someone, I was loved by someone. But then on a cursed night it all ended. I lost everything I had. I lost my love, I my work and I lost my life.

I had been working on developing a new type of synthetic skin to aid the burn victims...but who knew that one day I would have to use it for myself.

They burnt down my laboratory. They burnt me down with it. I was left for dead. But here I am with a new life. Doctors said I was a wonder now. My body was completely burned and the nerves of my spinothalamic tract had been cut down that night. This made me devoid of any sensory input. Now I was no longer a subject to pain. I received enhanced strength but also some mental instability due to this.

I still remember the night when I ran away from that hospital. I longed to see my love. I wanted to see her. I wanted to meet her. I wanted to hold her in my arms. I saw her across the road. I tried to call her, meet her. She didn’t recognize me, she got scared. She got scared of me. I had turned into a monster.

Coming Back

An unusual smile on Newton Sharma's face while entering his lab meant it was his day today. Finally he had succeeded in his experiment. The research and the hard work he had been doing in this bedroom cum laboratory for the last five years had finally paid off.

Yes, his name was Newton Sharma, however weird it may seem but the rocket scientist Madhav Sharma and mathematician Aarti Sharma found this to be the best name for their child. He had grown up in an atmosphere of science all around him. Since his parents used to be away most of the time, he was left to be cared by his grandmother. A spiritual lady Yashodhara Sharma often told her grandson religious and spiritual stories. Thus Newton’s curiosity in spirituality grew. Newton Sharma had grown up to an extraordinary scholar. He had degrees in psychology, engineering and religious literatures much before he even turned thirty.

After he lost his parents and grandmother he was living alone. A lot of wealth had been left back for him by his late parents so that he could just enjoy himself and live in peace. But he had spent his the next five years on a research and working on something was almost impossible. Newton had believed that the human soul had tremendous powers. It could be taken out of the human body and could be relieved of stress and pain for a time being. He thought that he could work on this technology so that the people suffering from pains due to various diseases and accidents could have their souls out of their suffering bodies and stay in peace for the time till the body healed.
This was against the law of nature or something very insane and impossible said his seniors and colleagues. They even made fun of him. Everyone thought that he was building a castle in the air. He was so obsessed with this idea that he left his research centre and started to work at his home. Due to this his bedroom became his laboratory.

It had been five years since he was working on this soul extracting program and also he was working on its reverse so that the soul could be sent back to the body once the body had healed. On the table were huge heaps of papers and research materials. Also an old fashioned oil lamp which his father had given him stood on the corner stand illuminating the corner desk where he had kept the research and working procedure for bringing the soul back to the body. There were two machines like cages in the middle of the room which he had made to try the soul extraction program on animals like cats and rats.

Today since he knew he was successful he took his cat and attached some wires to her. The two cages were just to ensure that the animal or its soul does not run away. The living body would be attached by those three red and two yellow colored wires and a kind of metal cap would be put on the head and whereas the soul in the cage would not have been attached with anything because soul didn’t have any physical mass or body, so it would be free in the other cage.

Newton smiled looking at the cat and started his work. Some keys on the keyboards and some voice commands to the machine and it all started. The cat's soul too like cat had got scared of the experiment and with all its force it tried to come out. Newton got sacred and tried to call her name and calm her down but the soul didn't stop. The cage broke and the cat's soul started to run around in fear. Newton could not get what was happening.

The things and the papers on the desk began to fall in the way as if the cat was running on it and yes the cat's soul was running on it. Suddenly the soul jumped on the corner table pushing the stand where the lamp was kept and the oil lamp fell on the desk breaking out and setting fire to the papers on the desk. Newton cried out loud as he saw that because that papers and materials were the only way to bring the soul back to the body. Now having lost the research on bringing back the soul to the body, Newton got crazy and started to cry and throw the books and machines on the floor.

He was very depressed and almost fell on the floor. Crawling on his knees he went to the other side of the room where there was a small bed. A body laid on the bed with a white cloth over it. As he removed the cloth over the body, he cried out loudly at his loss. On the bed was his own living body with three red and two yellow wires attached on his chest and a metal cap on his head. He realized now that neither he could go back into his body nor could anyone know about his success which was impossible for any other scientist on this planet.

He also knew that some or the other day someone would find his body over here and after cremation even his soul would cease to exist. Thus that would be a strange end of his life.

Newton sat down resting his back to the bed and the cat's soul which was running so wildly before had calmed down and came by his side. Newton took the cat on his lap and smiled. He gave out a look to both the bodies in the room one of the cat and the other of his own. He accepted the fact that now there was no coming back.

Are we alone?

Who were they?
What if they are going to come back again?
What if the Gods we worship today were actually the extra terrestrials from other planets in the past?

Aliens, Extra Terrestrials,  Na’vi, Jaadu, etc, different names come into our minds when there is a talk about life on the other planets.

I even think about the hot alien Tara (for those who don't know her, you will have to see/tolerate according to your taste, 'Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai' starring Ritesh Deshmukh as Rajesh and Jacqueline Fernandez as Tara)

Well that was enough about the aliens in the movies. Here is some serious theory. I don’t remember how exactly did my interest grew in this subject but some months back I happened to watch the pilot episode of ‘Ancient Aliens’ online. The series aired on the History Channel two years back but a lazy creature that’s me found about it only early this year.

The episode which was about one and half hours long had put forth many questions regarding the ancient beliefs and some supposed theories fitting as suitable answers to those questions. The series also introduced me to the works of Erich von Däniken. This man is one of the early thinkers who proposed that aliens have visited us long back.

The Nasca Lines
The episode highlighted the brilliance and expertise in building the Egyptian pyramids and inquired whether the technology to make it came from outside our world because even today the brilliant engineers of our time will scratch their heads looking at it.It also told about mysterious carvings or markings called Nazca Lines in southern Peru which can be supposed to be a landing site for alien spacecrafts. The Moai statues of Easter Island too pose the same question.

The Moai statues of Easter Island
Some ancient structures and artifacts suggest the presence of technological knowledge even back at that time. How did the man who lived back centuries ago know about the things which had about thousands of years to be discovered?
Many theories suggest that the aliens have visited our planet. Due to their advanced technology and their intellectual powers they were presumed by the primitive people to be Gods.

Is it really possible that aliens have visited our planet or is it just another myth? The answer to these questions would probably be never known...
It will always remain as one of the greatest mysteries in the history of mankind...

NZT-48 would make me LIMITLESS

“Eddie Morra: A tablet a day and I was Limitless...”

“Carl Von Loon: So, Eddie Morra... And you do know you're a freak? What's your secret?
Eddie Morra: Medication.”

“Eddie Mora: No scenario? I see every scenario, I see 50 scenarios, that's what it does Carl - it puts me 50 moves ahead of you.”

The above lines are from the movie Limitless. It’s one of its kinds. Limitless was directed by Neil Burger. The screenplay was written by Leslie Dixon. It was based on the novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn.

Bradley Cooper has played it quite well and has almost convinced the viewers of the struggles in the life of Eddie. Robert De Niro plays the businessman Carl Von loon.

Limitless tells us the story of a struggling ill fated writer Edward “Eddie” Morra. About how he gets the drug NZT-48 which changes his life forever. The drug enhances his brain capacity. But the drug has side effects too. That has been shown well in the movie. A perfect portrayal of rags to riches can be seen in the movie. This film is truly a must watch.

Coming on to the drug NZT-48, let me tell that the concept of this drug which they have created is awesome. As we all know from the researches that we use only 20% of our brain. The drug has the capacity to make our brain use the remaining 80% too. This makes a man to have super intellectual abilities.
